Hello! I'm Carol
I'm a former Peace Corps volunteer turned mission-driven executive with an MBA. I care—about people, about the world we all share, and about making the most of the resources we touch so that we leave the smallest footprint.

I am a visionary, resourceful, and inspirational team leader. I use my right and left brain interchangeably, solving problems like an engineer. Applying global understanding and influential communication skills, I lead teams in producing compelling fundraising communications, brand stories, and marketing strategies that increase awareness and motivate audiences to act. I lead with integrity, fire on all cylinders, and maximize my MBA to develop teams that deliver and engage donors, constituents, and internal stakeholders.

EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE
Feb 2015- Nov 2020
Executive Director
EMORY UNIVERSITY
Repositioned a team of writers and graphic designers into a full-service strategic communications and marketing team by enhancing individuals’ fundraising knowledge, cultivating a MarCom mindset, fostering diversity and inclusion, and resourcing it with appropriate technology.

Increased efficiencies and quality in creative service delivery through custom business processes, project management, and staff development. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, introduced tools and fostered innovation for digital fundraising communications which resulted in zero downtime when university transitioned to full-time remote work.
Led team that produced the largest funded proposal in Emory’s history ($400M) and supported fundraising growth from $200 million annually to more than $300 million per year as key contributors to the fundraising value chain.
Developed relationships with 30 advancement teams, program leads, operations and finance colleagues, public relations teams, and executive leadership to comprehensively communicate Emory’s eminence in research and higher education.
Nov 2010-Feb 2015
Deputy Director
CARE
Led, coached, and mentored team of proposal and stewardship writers who supported private, individual donor grants totaling more than $35 million.

Art directed and strategized with creative service teams, fundraisers, and program colleagues to develop targeted, compelling, and programmatically accurate communications.

Engaged staff in 86+ country offices in fundraising strategy, dialogue, and success.
Jan 2009-Nov 2010
Writer/Researcher
